Angel Moroni stands atop many Temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The statue is a symbol of John the Revelator’s vision where he records, “And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth.” (Revelations 14:6; Doctrine and Covenants 133:36-37) In his left hand, he holds close to his heart the golden plates, which contain sacred writings known as The Book of Mormon. In his right hand, he holds a trumpet proclaiming to the world the restoration of the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

Nephi was the fourth son of Lehi and Sariah. He was a Book of Mormon prophet, and was faithful to his parents and to Heavenly Father. He was a skilled craftsman, building weapons, tools, and the ship that sailed his family across the ocean to the promised land. He showed courage amidst great danger as well as patience in dealing with his rebellious older brothers, Laman and Lemuel.

Mormon was one of the last Nephite prophets. The Book of Mormon is named after him. When Mormon was only ten years old, he was given the plates of Nephi and told to start writing the history of his people. We can learn how to be faithful and true to Heavenly Father by following Mormon's example. A brave leader of his people, Mormon felt great sorrow when his people did not obey God's commandments.
