Helaman, the son of Alma the younger, was loved and respected as a great military leader. The Book of Mormon tells us how he miraculously led 2,000 Stripling Warriors into battle, yet "...there was not one soul of them who did perish." Following thirteen years of war, Helaman returned to the labor he loved best, teaching the Gospel. He was High Priest over the Church and keeper of the records.

Stripling Warrior The 2,000 Stripling Warriors "...were exceedingly valiant for courage... Yea, they were men of truth and soberness, for they had been taught [in their youth by their mothers] to keep the commandments of God". The Book of Mormon tells us how after battle, Helaman fearfully counted his stripling sons. Although all were wounded, to his astonishment there was "not one soul of them who did perish...".

Samuel the Lamanite was courageous, obedient, and faithful to our Heavenly Father. He warned the Nephites in Zarahemla that unless they repented and turned to God they would surely be destroyed. The Book of Mormon tells how the people became enraged and tried to kill him. Although they shot arrows and threw stones at him, the power of God protected him and he could not be harmed.

Ammon was a great missionary. One of four sons of King Mosiah, Ammon felt impressed to go to the Lamanites and teach them the gospel. After receiving permission from his father, he traveled to a land called Ishmael. Ammon became a servant of the Lamanite King Lamoni, defending his flocks. The Book of Mormon tells us how through divine guidance he was able to convert many to the gospel and organize the church among the people of Ishmael.

Mormon was one of the last Nephite prophets. The Book of Mormon is named after him. When Mormon was only ten years old, he was given the plates of Nephi and told to start writing the history of his people. We can learn how to be faithful and true to Heavenly Father by following Mormon's example. A brave leader of his people, Mormon felt great sorrow when his people did not obey God's commandments.

King Noah was totally corrupt and evil. The Book of Mormon tells that "...he did cause his people to commit sin, and do that which was abominable in the sight of the Lord." The people were taxed greatly to build his costly palace and temple, which he then defiled. The Prophet Abinadi warned the King to repent or be destroyed. The king did not listen and the prophecy was fulfilled.
